Care for boiled cotton bed linen
Hooray, the set you've dreamed of for so long is now yours! To keep your boiled cotton bedding bringing you joy for as long as possible, it needs proper care. We'll talk about this in the article.
Right after purchase
Before happily putting on your new bedding, wash it.
Here's why this is important:
- "This way, you'll be sure the set is absolutely clean. It's like washing your hands after being outside — simple but very important."
- "Although cotton is a hypoallergenic material, the first wash with your detergent 'adapts' the fabric to you."
- "After the first wash, you'll understand if the fabric bleeds — this will help avoid unpleasant surprises later."
"How to wash boiled cotton bedding?"
"Gently!"
- "A washing machine with a 'Cotton' mode at 40°C is a true friend of your new set. Bleaches and conditioners are not needed; the fabric doesn't like them."
- "For the first wash, we recommend setting the 'Hand wash' mode and the minimum spin speed. Do not turn on the drying mode."
"If your sets are juicy bright colors, you can only wash them together at 30–40°C. Colors are better preserved if you turn the linen inside out before washing."
"And what's the best way to dry it?"
"Ideally — in a slight breeze, smoothing the linen beforehand. As soon as it dries, take it off immediately."
"How often should you change your bedding?"
"Trusted American dermatologists published an important study a few years ago. It stated that:"
- "You need to change pillowcases every 2–4 days;"
- "You need to change the sheets once a week;"
- "You need to change the duvet cover twice a month."
"Do you need to iron boiled cotton bedding?"
"Boiled cotton bedding sets do not need ironing! They already look like they're straight out of Pinterest pictures."
"In fact, ironing can only harm it. High heat makes the fabric fibers less hygroscopic, which means you'll sweat more. Ironing causes static electricity to build up on the surface of the linen. The time spent ironing can be devoted to other, more pleasant activities!"
"The 'highlight' of boiled cotton sets is their light crumpliness. A kind of casual chic that invites you to have a nice rest!"
How to store bedding?
First, turn the dry linen inside out. And then:
- put it in a plastic bag;
- if you have two or three sets and change them often, there is no need for a bag. Just fold all parts of the set into a pillowcase and put it on the wardrobe shelf;
- it is not recommended to store linen inside the sofa — that's where dust accumulates most often;
-
to give the linen a pleasant scent, place a sachet with lavender or another natural fragrance inside.
And remember — only dry linen can be stored!
Is there anything else to make the bedroom cozy?
Of course! Here are some tips:
- Choose pillow and curtain colors that will match each other;
- Decor in the form of candles, fresh flowers, and garlands is always appropriate;
- Play with the light — if the room is dark, take care of additional lighting devices. And if bright sun shines in your eyes from early morning, you will like layered curtains.
How much bedding does a person need?
We have two answers: for pragmatists and for romantics.
For pragmatists:
Let's take an average adult who works a lot but also takes care of their health. Pillowcases need to be changed very often, and everything else — just often. So the optimal option: 6–8 pillowcases, 2–3 sheets, and 1–2 duvet covers. If you convert the numbers into sets, you get 2–3 sets + extra pillowcases.
For romantics:
You can never have too much soft and cozy bedding! Want that set in burgundy? And this one, gently peach — it's a dream! Oh, look, green!
In general, you got it. As much as your creative soul demands!
And we are always happy to help you choose and give advice on care!
