Stonewashed linen care

Yay, the set you’ve been dreaming about for so long is now yours! In order for the stonewashed bedding to bring you pleasure for as long as possible, it must be properly handled. We’ll talk about that in the article.

RIGHT AFTER THE PURCHASE

Before you gladly make new bed linens, do your laundry.

That’s why it’s important:

  1. So you’ll be sure that the set is absolutely clean. It’s like washing your hands after being outside - simple, but very important.
  2. Despite the fact that cotton is a hypoallergenic material, the first laundry with your powder «adjust» the fabric for you.
  3. After the first laundry, you will find out if the fabric fades - this will make it possible to avoid unpleasant surprises in the future.

How to wash the stonewashed linen?

Gently!

  1. Washing machine with «Cotton» mode on 40 °C is a loyal friend of your new set. You don’t have to use bleach and air conditioning, fabric doesn’t like it.

  1. We recommend you to set «Manual mode» and a minimum number of washer cycles for the first laundry. Do not include drying mode.

If your sets have juicy bright colours, they can be washed together at 30-40 °C. The colours are better preserved if the laundry is turned out before washing.

What’s the best way to dry?

Perfect - for a short stretch, after having straightened the linen. When it dries, you should take off immediately.

How often do you have to change the sheets?

American dermatologists who can be trusted published an important study a few years ago. It said:

  • The pillowcase must be replaced every 2 to 4 days;
  • The sheets should be changed once a week;
  • You have to change the blanket twice a month.

When we sleep, our bodies release a lot of moisture, which is absorbed by the bedding.

Bacteria are known to live on wet fabric, feeding on cells of dead epithelium. And the more you change your bed linen, the less likely bacteria are to harm your health.

DO YOU HAVE TO IRON STONEWASHED BEDDING?

You don’t have to iron the stonewashed linen set! It already looks like a picture on Pinterest.

Ironing can only hurt him. The heat makes the fibres less hygroscopic, which means you’ll sweat more. The result is that static electricity accumulates on the surface of the laundry. The time spent on ironing can be devoted to other, more enjoyable activities!

The "highlight" of the stonewashed sets is their light bruising. Such a careless chic that attracts a good rest!

HOW TO KEEP BEDDING?

First, turn out the dry laundry. And then:

  • Put it in a plastic bag;
  • If you have two or three sets, and you change them often, the package is not necessary. Just put all the pieces in the pillowcase and put them on the shelf;
  • It is not advisable to store laundry inside the sofa, where the dust is most often kept;
  • In order to make the underwear a pleasant flavour, put in a sachet with lavender or another natural flavour.

Remember, you can keep only dry bedding!

Is there anything else you can do to make the bedroom comfortable?

Sure! Here are some tips:

  • Choose the colours of the pillows and the curtains to be combined with each other;
  • Decoration in the form of candles, living flowers and garlands is always appropriate;
  • Play with the light - if the room is dark, take care of extra lighting. And if the bright sun shines in your eyes early in the morning, you’ll love the multi-layered curtains.

How many sheets does a person need?

We have two answers, for pragmatists and for romantics.

For pragmatists:

Let’s take the average adult who works a lot but takes care of his health. Pillowcases need to be changed very often, and everything else is just a lot. Therefore, the best option is 6-8 pillowcases, 2-3 bedsheets and 1-2 blankets. If you convert the numbers to sets, you get 2-3 sets + extra pillows.

For romantics:

You don’t get a lot of soft and cosy bedding! Do you want that set of Bordeaux? And this one, gentle peach - it’s a dream! Ooh, look, green one!

So you get it. As long as your creative soul requires.

And we are always happy to help you choose and give you advice on care!
